Funding the Time and Space Project
The National Maritime Museum and Royal Observatory, Greenwich warmly thanks all those who have given to the capital campaign for Time and Space, ensuring that the £15million target was reached in November 2005 – more than a year before the new planetarium and galleries open.
A big thank you to all our supporters
Major support is being provided by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Peter Harrison Foundation, the Garfield Weston Foundation, Lloyds Register Educational Trust, the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council, the Millennium Commission, and the Wolfson Foundation.
Numerous other donations have been received from trusts and foundations, corporate sources, and private individuals. Many people, including our visitors, have given very generously to our public appeal 'A Universal Appeal'. Proceeds from a spectacular Gala Dinner held at the Museum in September 2005 and attended by 480 people also contributed to the fundraising total.
Thank you to all of you who have given so generously.
Major naming rights announced
We are delighted to announce that the new planetarium is to be named The Peter Harrison Planetarium, reflecting the support received from the Peter Harrison Foundation through its 'Opportunities through Education' programme.
The new education facilities are to be named the Lloyds Register Education Centre. Lloyds Register is supporting Time and Space through its Educational Trust which funds education, training and research.
