The 2016 Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition is judged by a panel of experts spanning the fields of astronomy, photography and science.

World-class astrophotographer, presenter on the BBC’s The Sky at Night programme and writer for BBC Sky at Night Magazine.

Co-presenter of the BBC’s The Sky at Night programme and a professor of astrophysics at the University of Oxford.

Award-winning photographer, creative director and visual consultant. Founder of OneRedEye Visual Communications.

The Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition is an annual global search for the most beautiful and spectacular visions of the cosmos by amateur and professional astrophotographers. The 2016 winners were announced on 15 September and the winning images are now on display in a stunning free exhibition at the Royal Observatory Greenwich.
