Important information for visitors

Until summer 2025, there is a new visitor route at the National Maritime Museum while we carry out essential improvements to the Museum's roof. Most galleries will still be open as normal, and special exhibitions are currently free for all visitors. However, the Great Map and AHOY! will be closed for the duration of the works. On 21 October 1805 the British Royal Navy clashed with French and Spanish ships at the Battle of Trafalgar. To coincide with a series of events across the Museum, this week's archive journey session is Life in Nelson's Navy.

The session will take place in the E-Library at 14.30 and will include an exciting opportunity to view a document written by a man who witnessed the fighting at first hand. The letter, featured as this month's item of the month, has recently been acquired by the National Maritime Museum after 205 years in private hands.
