This summer the Maritime Memories Machine will be touring the country collecting your stories of the sea. This is a unique chance for your memories to be part of a national museum collection as the stories we collect will find a home in the new Sea Things gallery at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.
Days in a deckchair or dug in behind a windbreak, sand in sandwiches, pebbles in flip flops. In the storm, in the calm, in the pub, fishermen, sailors, migration journeys, day-trippers. Visit the Maritime Memories Machine to tell us what the sea means to you.
You can meet the Maritime Memories Machine at 16 locations across the UK.
In Derby, Coventry, Leicester, Hull, Middlesborough, Stoke-on-Trent, Plymouth, Southampton, Portsmouth, Hastings, Jaywick, Great Yarmouth, Luton and Slough the Maritime Memories Machine will be popping up at libraries, parks, community centres and piers to entertain the whole family with free talks, shows and workshops all about the sea.

If you can’t make any of the tour dates, we’d still love to hear your sea stories.
