Join us for a new Planetarium show, at its first public showing at the Royal Observatory. Learn about space exploration, from the challenges of venturing into space to the objects we may encounter on the way.

Join us at our Base Camp on the lawns of the National Maritime Museums throughout the day, or sign up for one of our Franklin tours.

Join us at our exclusive Members’ only area. We’re setting up on the north lawn of the National Maritime Museum, next to the Queen’s House. They’ll be activities throughout the day, or just enjoy your opportunity to relax and appreciate stunning views over Greenwich.

Flamsteed Astronomy Society Lecture: Let’s Set a Date

In this talk we’ll explore how people have kept track of time around the world; and how the version most of us use came into use.

There’ll also be a look at the continuing variants used by different cultures, and how the calendar might change a long way into the future.

Radmila Topalović

Radmila is Lead Astronomy Education Officer at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Her PhD research focused on searching for large organic molecules in various nebulae, and she has taught GCSE Astronomy at the Observatory.
