Crew Lists, Agreements and Official Logs Request Form

Requests to view or order copies of most Library and Archive material in the Reading Room can be placed directly via our online ordering system Aeon.

Please fill in this form to order from our collection of uncatalogued Crew Lists, Agreements and Official Logs.  Documents for 1915 voyages are now fully catalogued and should be ordered via the online Archive Catalogue.  There is also a separate Masters', Mates', Engineers' and Skippers' Certificates request form.

  • You must be registered in Aeon before submitting a request form.
  • By registering you will be able to make future requests to view manuscript and printed material in the Caird Library Reading Room. You will also be able to place orders for copies of archive and library collection items via our digital scanning/photocopying service.
  • Please note: when you place a request for a Master's Certificate or a Crew List, it must be processed manually by a member of staff. Therefore, if you place your order outside of Library opening hours, you may not see your order in your Aeon account until the next working day. Thank you for your patience.
  • The maximum number of items that can be ordered in advance for a visit is six items if held on-site, 21 if held off-site.
  • Not all records survive and the document(s) requested may not be available. Please note all of the surviving crew lists from 1945 and 10% of the years listed below are housed at The National Archives (see below).
  • If you are unsure what the vessel's official number is or where to find it, please consult our research guide. (See also the National Archives' crew lists page and the Crew List Index Project.)
  • You can find information about which records are held at the National Maritime Museum, and where else records are held, by consulting our research guide.
  • See information about our opening hours.
