School visits: Royal Observatory

A school visit to the Royal Observatory offers students an inspiring, curriculum-linked experience, with unparalleled opportunities to meet astronomers, engage with cutting-edge science and explore big ideas.

We offer a wide range of facilities for visiting schools including the award-winning Time Galleries, the interactive Weller Astronomy Galleries, the Lloyd’s Register Educational Trust Learning Centre and the Peter Harrison Planetarium.

We offer three types of very flexible visit day: a Discovery Day, a Space Spectacular Day and a Study Day (secondary only).

Depending on the key stage and what you choose your visit can be made of: a planetarium show, an interactive workshop or science theatre show, a masterclass, a self-facilitated visit to the Weller Astronomy Galleries, a drama session in the Great Equatorial Telescope dome and a time-slot in the lunch room.
