History, Key Stage 3

This exciting new study day includes a variety of sessions to help students develop their skills in independent enquiry and discover how the East India Company changed people’s lives in Europe and Asia.

This day is facilitated by Museum staff and will begin with an introduction to the East India Company and the contemporary legacies of this history. It includes a series of activities to promote students’ independent enquiry skills:

Object handling

During this hands-on session students can use replica objects to learn about the impact of the East India Company from the 17th to the 19th centuries.

Traders: the East India Company and Asia

This gallery displays a wide range of material exploring Britain’s maritime trade with Asia. While visiting the gallery students will use brand-new, state-of-the-art mobile learning devices to construct their own interpretations of this history, and their findings will be available on-line for use in the classroom.

Tuesday | 10.00–14.00

Sessions accommodate 60 students.
