Key Stage 2, Cross-Curricular
How do we know what happened on the Titanic?
In this unique session, children meet Bunty, a shipboard stewardess, and find out about the fashionable cruises of the early 20th century. They then have the exciting opportunity to explore some of the Museum’s collection of rare manuscripts, prints, drawings and books relating to cruising and the Titanic, including diaries and photographs of survivors. The session offers a great chance for children to develop their historical enquiry skills using some of the Museum’s most precious materials. This session coincides with the opening of a small exhibition in spring 2012 commemorating the centenary of the sinking of the Titanic. This will give a fascinating insight into the lives of a selection of people touched by the tragedy.
