Interested to find out more about your family history but not sure where to start? This session will show you how to register at the Caird Library, and get the most out of our resources for your research. There will be a presentation by our librarian Penny Allen with a focus on Merchant Navy records, and a chance for you to see examples of crew lists and Master’s certificates from the archives.

After the session, you will get the opportunity to conduct your own research using the library computers. Our experienced staff will be on hand to offer further assistance between 2-4pm.

Please note:

  • If you wish to access the museum's Library and Archive collection on the day, you are strongly recommended to register for a Reader’s Ticket in advance here. However you can still register at the library. Please also bring 2 forms of photo ID (e.g. passport and driving license) when you come.
  • Please bring your own pencil and notepad (no pens allowed)
  • No food and drinks allowed
  • Caird Library will be closed between 1-2pm on the day and will reopen at 2pm
