Evenings and Lates

Is time travel truly possible? How alien are planets beyond our Solar System?

How far could humans venture and live beyond our protective Earth?

These are just some of the questions that we can answer on this night of interactive exploration of science fiction themes.

Guest speakers on the evening include Jon Culshaw, Helen Czerski, Paul Abel and Lucie Green who will kick off the night with a tour of real exoplanets in our planetarium, delving into their characteristics and the potential for future exploration.

The evening will then break out into the rest of our Astronomy Centre including a drop-in games area, short talks on the science fact in the science fiction from Royal Observatory Greenwich astronomers, a screening room for science fiction shorts provided by our friends at SCI-FI-LONDON, and demonstrations from our team of Observatory Explainers. Our café will also be open on the evening to fuel the fun!

The night concludes with a special science fiction quiz back in our planetarium, bringing to a close our exploration of the real science behind the fiction that has captured our imaginations across the decades in film, television and literature.
