William Hodges 1744-1797: The Art of Exploration

  Discover the Art Animated GIF showing the route of Cook's second voyage. The 'Adventure' and 'Resolution' leave England in July 1772 and head towards South Africa. The ships sail south to the Antarctic and the 'Resolution' continues east to New Zealand. They explore the Pacific Islands and look for the southern continent, stopping at Tahiti, Easter Island and discovering New Caledonia. They continue to search in the South Atlantic and head home via South Africa. The 'Resolution' returns to Plymouth in July 1775.
