Planning your visit and travel

The National Maritime Museum covers a large area which may be difficult to see in depth during one visit. Able-bodied visitors are advised to allow at least an hour for each site.

The Royal Observatory, Greenwich is at the top of a hill and some groups visit this first to save an exhausting climb at the end of the day.

Parking for visitors with disabilities

Visitors with disabilities can book a space in the Museum car park. Spaces are limited, so please book at least 24 hours in advance. Contact the Bookings Unit on +44 (0)20 8312 6608. The entrance to the car park is situated off Park Row.

There are parking spaces for disabled drivers on the road outside the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Cars may be driven to the Royal Observatory through the Royal Park via Blackheath Gate in Charlton Way. St Mary's Gate (leading from King William Walk) is closed between 10.00–16.00 on weekdays and all day during weekends and Bank Holidays. Advance permission is needed from the Park Superintendent for coaches and minibuses to enter the Royal Park. Contact +44 (0)20 8858 2608.

Transport accessibility

Bus routes 53, 188, 199, 202 and 286 to the Greenwich area are operated by low floor buses and can take wheelchairs. For further travel information please visit the Transport for London Transport accessibility pages or contact them on +44 (0)20 7491 4600.
