2011 winners
This is now the third year of the Royal Observatory’s competition to uncover your best photographs of stars, planets, galaxies and more. We received nearly 800 entries from astronomers around the world – that’s nearly double the number we received last year!
With the help of our friends at Sky at Night Magazine, and the photo-sharing website, Flickr, we asked you to submit photographs in the categories of ‘Earth and Space’, ‘Our Solar System’, ‘Deep Space’ and ‘Young Astronomy Photographer of the Year’. The two prizes for ‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘People and Space’ feature again this year and we have also introduced a new prize for photographs taken with a ‘Robotic Scope’. After much deliberation, our judges selected the 24 prize-winners which you can see here. Congratulations to all of them.
