The Queen’s House

Queen's House closure

Visitor notice: Some areas of the Queen's House will be closed on Tuesday 25 April, Friday 28 April from 2pm and Saturday 6 May

The first consciously classical building in Britain, the Queen’s House remains one of the greatest examples of classical elegance and simplicity and makes a perfect setting for period productions and photo shoots.

Features of particular interest include the graceful Tulip Stairs, the first centrally-unsupported spiral staircase in England, and the Great Hall – a perfect geometric cube with a finely-laid marble floor.

With superb, unspoilt views of Greenwich Park, the Thames and the Old Royal Naval College, the Queen’s House is the ideal choice for those wishing to add a little majesty to a production.

Purpose: Royal villa

Built: 1616–1619
