Royal Museums Greenwich is home to collections that are relevant to audiences across the globe and our international focus is key to what we do.
Our global outlook, connections and relevance
The Royal Observatory, Cutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum and the Queen’s House are home to collections and stories that are relevant to audiences across the globe. This shows in the growing numbers of international visitors we welcome to Royal Museums Greenwich.
Our international focus is always at the forefront of what we do. We share our collections and expertise across the globe through touring exhibitions, loans, licensing agreements and online resources and develop overseas partnerships, including skills sharing and collaborative research.
We regularly loan items from our collections to other museums around the world.
Our touring exhibition programme enables audiences across the globe to experience our collections and the fascinating stories behind them.
Royal Museums Greenwich Picture Library licenses thousands of images directly every year to clients around the world, and also partners with overseas agents who license our images to clients in their own territories. The Picture Library also acts as a licensor of images from external artists, photographers and museums, strengthening our offer.
The publication Turner and the Sea has been published in US and German language editions, and the book Astronomy Photographer of the Year has been published in a Japanese language edition. A contract has recently been signed with a Chinese publisher for the Chinese language rights to the 2004 title Maritime Empires: British Imperial Maritime Trade in the Nineteenth Century.
We’re grateful to our supporters around the world. Find out how you could become a Royal Museums Greenwich patron, or, if you’re based in the US, how to join our American Friends.
