Until summer 2025, there is a new visitor route at the National Maritime Museum while we carry out essential improvements to the Museum's roof. Most galleries will still be open as normal, and special exhibitions are currently free for all visitors. However, the Great Map and AHOY! will be closed for the duration of the works. July's item of the month is an illustrated brochure produced by the Orient Line to publicise their 23,000 ton passenger liner, RMS Orion, launched in September 1935.

Designed by Edward McKnight Kauffer, one of the most famous graphic designers of the day, it's a lovely example of the type of items held in our ephemera collection, much of which focuses on passenger liners.
