The Astronomy Ambassadors Group is a place for young people (between 16 and 21 years old) to get a taste of the work we do at the Royal Observatory and explore their passion for Astronomy, Space Science or Science Communication. Join us, meet other like-minded young people, and make meaningful contributions to the work that the Royal Observatory does.

We're running sessions throughout 2024, with lots of opportunities to learn new skills and create content with us! Details of sessions from March - May have been shared with our mailing list, and details of future sessions from June onwards will also be shared with our mailing list closer to the time. If you want to get involved, sign up!

Who is it for?

The Astronomy Ambassadors Group is open to 16 – 21 year olds who have an interest in space and astronomy and how we share these topics with the public! We want the voice of young people to be included in our work, and we’re looking at how we can do this differently.

What will we do?

Working on our planetarium show!

We ran sessions throughout 2023, including careers chats, private tours of our collections centre, introductions to using telescopes, writing content for the website (check that out here and here), and young people creating and presenting their own planetarium show! Sessions in 2024 include all of this and more - for example creating podcasts, and explaining astronomy to our visitors!
