How do artists portray the personality, power and position of a person in a single portrait?

Children will explore the various elements which make up a portrait, starting with expression. We go on to investigate how selection of pose, costume and background impact on the interpretation and meaning of portraits.

Towards the end of the session children take part in performance activities and create photographic portraits to take back to school.

This session can be adapted for Key Stages 1 and 2. Sessions last 90 minutes.

Please bring cameras/tablets to capture to record your classes activities.
