Cutty Sark
Session price:

This interactive story-telling session will take your class on an exciting journey on board Cutty Sark. Through play and exploration, children will discover what life was like on a real ship as they sail across the high seas with our facilitator.

Play, Sing, Sail, Explore

The session starts at our figurehead collection underneath the ship, where children meet Jack, a friendly rat who dreams of becoming a sailor. With songs - and some help from the figureheads - children help Jack to learn sailor skills before he sneaks on board for his first ever voyage. Up on the Main Deck, children will see where sailors slept and, with adult help, discover more about life on board through simple activities, games and dressing up.

The session finishes with everybody helping Jack to do some sailor’s jobs, just before he gets spotted by the Captain! Will Jack impress him and be allowed to join the ship’s crew?

60-minute session and self-guided time.

Note that it is possible to book time in the AHOY! Children’s Gallery at the National Maritime Museum, subject to availability.
