The collections at Royal Museums Greenwich hold over 2.5 million items, including astronomical and navigational instruments, ship models and plans, coins, medals and flags, uniforms and weapons, plus historical art, film and photography. Find out more about all of our collections below.

The Library and Archive collection at the National Maritime Museum is the largest collection of manuscripts and original documents in the world relating to maritime history, stretching over 12 kilometres of shelving.

Our uniform collection holds over 7000 items, including items owned by Admiral Nelson, Edward VII and Admiral John Arbuthnot Fisher.

This is a collection of international significance, particularly those items relating to early Arctic exploration.

There are currently 811 relics including souvenirs made from ship timbers and metal; parts of ships or items associated with ships, corporate bodies or buildings. The antiquities collection contains a further 975 items relating to general material culture and social history rather than to a named person or ship. (Polar relics are in a separate collection).

The National Maritime Museum collection includes relics from the Franklin Expedition, the worst disaster in the history of British polar exploration.

The National Maritime Museum holds a unique collection of around 100,000 historical sea charts and maps.

Cutty Sark is home to the largest collection of Merchant Navy figureheads in the world.
