Stamping snow from his boots, here’s Tom Crean, hero of three trips to Antarctica led by famous explorers Scott and Shackleton.

Set off on an epic adventure with Tom Crean into the Museum’s new Polar Worlds gallery to discover how he survived 3 expeditions to Antarctica with famous explorers Scott and Shackleton.

Then travel back in time through the museum’s unique archives, learning about how explorers have survived the polar regions battling both the conditions and the boredom of being trapped on a ship throughout months of darkness.

Pupils will:

  • Study museum archives and artefacts to discover how and why explorers survived in extreme environments
  • Meet an actor character who will take them on an immersive journey through historic journeys to the poles
  • Develop imagination and historical enquiry skills
