Comprising outstanding classical, world folk and jazz musicians, Joglaresa will be joined by Dame Emma Kirkby for a Christmas Special in the Sammy Ofer Gallery of Cutty Sark.
Get in the festive spirit with a mince pie, mulled wine and a Christmas Concert under the gleaming hull of Cutty Sark.
Joglaresa, famous for their rhythmic improvisations and re-imaginings of classic and contemporary songs, are joined for one night only by soprano sensation Dame Emma Kirkby to celebrate the release of their newest festive album.
"Joglaresa's imaginative use of improvisation creates an exciting air of authenticity...compulsive rhythmic energy...luxuriantly ornamental solos" - The Telegraph
Directed by Belinda Skyes (soloist at The Royal Albert and Carnegie Halls) Joglaresa comprises outstanding classical, world, folk and jazz musicians - a sound that is at once traditional and contemporary - combining intoxicating elements of Medieval, Middle Eastern and Celtic musics, they create a unique London sound that is both extrovert and intimate.
This December, Joglaresa will be using no mirth-control as they blow the dust off medieval song and romp through Christmas Past and Present - using medieval and folk song as a springboard for their invention. They'll be mixing old and new. Amongst their own newly-composed carols, such as A Lovely Rose, Wynter Wakeneth, Pais Dinogad, and a mashup of Flo Rida's You Spin My Head Round with a medieval motet, there will also be Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind by Orlando Gough, with special guest - Dame Emma Kirkby.
"...carnival-like exuberance...enjoyable and virtuosic" - fROOTSS
