Come to our Christmas Lecture to hear about different topics in astronomy from expert astrophysicists across diverse fields.

Details of our Christmas 2020 lecture will be coming soon!

Lunar expert Professor Ian Crawford (Birkbeck, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences) will talk about the scientific legacy of the Apollo programme that continues to resonate in research today just as much as it did five decades ago. Moon rock samples were recovered, thousands of photographs captured, and results gathered from various Apollo Lunar Surface Experiments Packages. The Apollo missions lay the foundation to help unravel not just the secrets of our closest neighbour, but also provide clues to the origin of the planet we call home as well as the history of impacts experienced by the other planets and moons in our solar system.
