Visitor notice: On Sunday 4 March Cutty Sark and the museum car park will be closed for the Vitality Big Half Marathon. All other museums will be open as normal and DLR and rail links will be running. Find out about road closures

Join a fascinating tour of the history of the Royal Observatory led by one of our volunteers.

There are guided tours or gallery talks on most weekdays (not Bank Holidays). Please ask for today’s details when you arrive. 

Suitable for ages 5+.

Guided tours

There will usually be tours at the following times: 

  • Mondays – at 2.30pm

  • Tuesdays – at 1.30pm

  • Wednesdays – at 2.30pm

  • Thursdays – at 11.30am and 2.30pm

  • Fridays – at 11.30am and 2.30pm

Tours start in the Meridian Courtyard and include John Harrison's marine timekeepers in the Time and Longitude gallery.

Gallery talks

Join talks on John Harrison and his timekeepers in the Time and Longitude gallery, most Wednesdays at 1.30pm.
