AHOY! Ticketed Entry: FAQs

Why are you introducing charging for AHOY?

Since opening in 2015, the AHOY! gallery has been a great success welcoming over 200,000 visitors a year. However, the growing popularity of the gallery led to overcrowding at peak periods with queues for entry and a poor experience for our visitors.

To address these issues and in response to visitor feedback we have introduced a ticketed timed entry system for AHOY! during weekends and school holidays. This enables families to book a guaranteed entry time and avoid the need to queue - something which we know can be difficult with young children.

Entry is free with no ticketed system during weekdays in term time. The income generated from admissions helps to cover the ongoing costs of running and maintaining the gallery.

Is there ticketed entry at all times?

No. The ticketed, timed entry system is in place during weekends, bank holidays and school holidays only. Entry is free with no timed entry system during weekdays in term time.

2019 School holiday dates where ticketed entry applies are as follows:

  • Christmas: 23 December to Sunday 5 January
  • Easter: 4 April to 19 April
  • May half term: 23 May - 31 May

How do I book?

You can book tickets online or in person at our admission desks. Royal Museums Greenwich Family Members can book tickets hereTickets are subject to availability and advance booking is recommended. You can book tickets up to 6 weeks in advance.

How much is a ticket?
