National Maritime Museum, Ground floor, Voyagers gallery
Set on the ground floor in the heart of the National Maritime Museum's Sammy Ofer Wing the Voyagers gallery tells the story of Britain and the sea.
Through science, trade, conflict, work and leisure, the sea has dominated the history of mankind and shaped our understanding of the world and our place within it. The sea has offered opportunities for glory but can also be a place of great loss.
The gallery introduces the museum’s key themes, the breadth and diversity of our collections and the people whose lives have been shaped by the sea. It also features a dynamic audio-visual installation.
