With the final restrictions lifted in July, we are thrilled to be able to get back to live events after a difficult year. It had been over 18 months since we had hosted a full capacity event and it felt absolutely wonderful to return to normal capacities. It seems almost unbelievable that we are now halfway through what we all knew would be an incredibly busy summer and there is still more to come! Whilst restrictions have been lifted, we continue to work safely and recommend a range of actions that we hope will keep our clients and their guests safe. For more information on our policies, head to our COVID-19 updates page and download our Safe Events Guides.

Candlelight Concerts

Candlelight Concerts by Fever UK at the Queen's House

Our Candlelight Concerts, in partnership with Fever UK, have been so successful they have added another two dates in September! The Candlelight series is held outdoors on our lawns for a safe and intimate series of classical concerts. Surround yourself with the soft glow of candlelight while enjoying sounds from the world's best ever classic and modern composers, including some memorable pieces from movie soundtracks. If you've not attended one yet, what are you waiting for? It's a summer must see!

Wedding Season

Just like that, we're back hosting full capacity weddings. Weddings have been a hotly contentious topic throughout the pandemic with lots of press accorded to them and whilst we have been lucky enough to be able to proceed with intimate weddings for up to 15 or 30 (depending on government guidance), many venues have not been able to and many clients simply didn't want to proceed with this significantly reduced capacity. Most of our couples this year have postponed at least once during the pandemic, with some postponing up to five times! So you can imagine how incredibly grateful we are to our clients for sticking with us through a trying time and we are thrilled to now be able to celebrate their weddings with them as they originally intended.

Whilst government restrictions are no longer in place, we continue to work closely with our clients and suppliers to keep them, their guests and our staff safe. However, it is truly wonderful to be able to see full wedding ceremonies, first dances, bands with singers in the Undercroft, standing receptions on the terrace and elegant wedding breakfasts under the hull at Cutty Sark. Here's to weddings, wherever and however you celebrate! Click here if you want to find out more about weddings at our spectacular museums.

Greenwich Comedy Festival

An annual staple of the Greenwich calendar, Greenwich Comedy Festival returns again to our grounds this year with a magnificent series of open air shows paired with craft beer, cocktails and more, all set against the iconic backdrop of the National Maritime Museum. Last year we changed the format to allow for social distancing, moving the festival from its traditional tent to the open air and, in line with our mission to keep our visitors safe, we're doing the same this. With Alan Davies, Sara Pascoe, Phil Wang, Mae Martin and Ed Gamble scheduled to appear, it's a must see this September.

Vitality Big Half

Another regular favourite, the Vitality Big Half, returns to Greenwich this August. The Vitality Big Half marathon through London follows a stunning 13.1-mile closed-road course, starting by Tower Bridge and finishing at our very own Cutty Sark in Greenwich. We can't wait to cheer on our friends and family this year, as well as some of the World's most impressive athletes and if you fancy pushing yourself, there is still time to guarantee your entry! Take a look at the website for more details...

We think there's enough here to whet your appetite for a summer you're sure to remember, but stay tuned into the autumn. We'll be kicking off September with the return of corporate events and before long our Queen's House Ice Rink will be back for Christmas.

If you are planning an event and you think Royal Museums Greenwich might be suitable to host it, reach out now at events@rmg.co.uk or on 0208 312 8517.

We look forward to hearing from you soon. Until then, stay safe!
