Drawing inspiration from the War Widows' Quilt, this drop-in workshop will assist visitors in interpreting the Quilt, poems and book of oral histories and faciliate the creation of own mementos.

The War Widows’ Quilt commemorates the lives of war widows and their loved ones as part of the War Widows’ Stories project. The arthur+martha organisation, who developed the War Widows’ Quilt together with war widows and their families, will run a drop-in workshop combining embroidery and poetry, inspiring participants to make their own commemorative works.

A table will be set up with fabric and threads, for visitors to have a go making their own patchwork piece. The arthur+martha organisation will be there to provide support for the handwork and for anyone wishing to work on individual or group poems. All materials provided. This activity is free.
