It has been a strange two years. As lockdown descended, our streets emptied, our museums closed, and our way of life changed. 

The events team at Royal Museums Greenwich have worked hard with our clients throughout, postponing events where necessary, facilitating COVID safe events in those periods we could, and planning for our safe return to full capacity live events again.

We are thrilled that restrictions on events are no longer required and the information below and our frequently asked questions outline the measures we are continuing to take to keep you safe.

Covid 19 - Plan your future events - FAQs

Are you open for enquiries?

Yes! Our events sales team, Sophie, Charlotte, and Giulia are available to respond to your event enquiry or answer questions from Monday – Friday 9pm - 5pm.  Complete our online enquiry form, call 0208 312 8517 or email events@rmg.co.uk.

Are you conducting site visits?

We are thrilled to be able to invite you to our venues in person Monday to Friday as follows:

  • Show rounds must be pre-booked and only those necessary to the visit should attend
  • One-way routes will be followed where possible
  • Digital images will be sent in advance to view on your own device rather than sharing an iPad
  • We welcome an elbow bump, foot tap, bow, or similar, but are not shaking hands
  • Face coverings are requested inside our Museums: we ask all attendees that are able to do so to please bring and wear a mask

 

When can I schedule my event?

We are delighted that live events can now proceed without any capacity restrictions. Current advice allows us to facilitate all filming and photography shoots, full capacity weddings, private and corporate events subject to recommended guidelines. We are happy to help book in any events that fit within the government's guidelines and our priority remains keeping you, your guests and our staff safe. 

When can I get married?

There is no longer any restriction on the number of attendees at weddings, civil partnerships and receptions. Our museums can safely accommodate weddings for 4 to 500 attendees. We do have our own guidelines in place to ensure that you, your guests and our staff are kept safe. 

For those still wanting to keep things small, intimate weddings are our speciality. From memorable sunset or sunrise weddings at the Royal Observatory, to the classical splendour of Queen’s House through to the unique backdrop of Cutty Sark, our team can recommend the ideal venue for your special day. 

What is your cancellation or postponement policy?

If you have an event booked with us that is unable to take place due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are happy to reschedule to a later date or provide a refund. Get in touch with us to find out your options.

What safety measures have you put in place?

Royal Museums Greenwich has continually monitored the situation of Covid-19 and taken strict hygiene measures to ensure the safety of employees, staff, and visitors. These measures include:

Cleaning and sanitising:

  • Increased surface cleaning in all areas.
  • Clearly marked sanitising stations across our sites.
  • Toilets operating on a one in, one out system with sanitising products provided.

Physical distancing:

  • All our venues have capacity guidelines to allow for physical distancing and include one-way routes with minimal crossover points, with clear signage, route maps, and queuing systems.
  • All visitors are requested to provide their phone contact details for NHS track and trace purposes. Data is kept for 21 days and then removed from our system. 

Face masks/covering:

  • It is recommended that people wear face masks in confined public spaces including shops and public transport and now indoor venues such as museums. We recommend that all visitors to our sites bring a face covering with them.

Have risk assessments been completed?

A new Covid-19 risk assessment document has been completed for all venues and departmental return to work plans have been produced to put the assessments into practice. For any event that takes place in our venues, we will work with event organisers and suppliers to ensure event-specific risk assessments are completed.

Will these plans change and if so, when?

Yes, it is highly likely that these plans will continue to change as they have done in the past and we will continue to adapt depending on changing advice, concerns raised by guests, industry experiences, and how the plans work in reality. We need to make sure we are all adapting and flexible to the changing situation, responding to feedback and improving our practices further.

How are you complying with the NHS Test and Trace policy?

In line with guidance issued by the Department for Health and Social Care, for all client and supplier meetings on site we are collecting your information to share with NHS Test and Trace personnel, if requested, in the event of a fellow customer or staff member testing positive for coronavirus.

For all live meetings and events it will be the responsibility for the lead agent/event planner to keep accurate records of their guests and staff whom come on site and agree to cooperate in supplying information if requested.
