The winners have been announced for the Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2016 competition.

Congratulations to our 2016 winners

Astrophotographers from around the world sent us their best images for the Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2016 competition and we received over 4500 entries from 80 countries. After much deliberation, our judges selected a shortlist of 140 images and the 31 prize-winners.

2017 competition

The 2017 adult and young competitions will open for entries in early 2017. Entrants can submit up to 10 images for the chance to win cash prizes, their winning image displayed in an exhibition at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, a year’s subscription to Sky at Night magazine and a copy of the Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year publication.
