Typescript sheets providing a transcription of part of the diary kept by Andrew Crawford, covering the period 7 March to 24 May 1885. It records events during a voyage from London to Sydney on the iron sailing ship PATRIARCH (1869). See JOD/267 for the original diary also covering sightseeing in Australia and the passage back to London.

Administrative / biographical background
The diary of Andrew Crawford was published by the National Maritime Museum as ‘A Trip to the Antipodes’, edited by Stephen Riley, Maritime Monographs and Reports No 45, 1980. At the time of this publication, the original manuscript was owned by Miss M.J. Wheeler, granddaughter of Andrew Crawford. It was later acquired by the National Maritime Museum, see JOD/267.
