Barlow sees ships for the first time at London Bridge, close to his uncle's tavern where he starts work as a barman and servant.
Barlow meets his sister, a servant at Snow Hill, who advises him to find his uncle. On the way to his uncle's tavern and post house, the Dog and Bear in Southwark, Barlow sees ships for the first time. Barlow starts work as a servant and barman, but quarrels with his aunt.
