A group of letters to Nevil Maskelyne from other astronomers, mostly written in French and Latin. These includes a letter from Alexandre Guy Pingré on the Nevil Maskelyne's observation of an eclipse 4th June 1768 and comparison of finding longitude using notes of both Cassini at Royal Observatory at Paris and Nevil Maskelyne; observation of a full eclipse 16th June 1806; and a paper in Latin by Lars Regnér; Letters between Francis Masseres, Doctor William Hales and Nevil Maskelyne from 1798-1806; A letter 23rd April 1795 from Anthony Songa on behalf of the Astronomer Royal at Milan on receiving copies of the Greenwich observations to send onto Nevil; a letter from Pierre François André Méchain thanking Nevil for the details of a new comet discovered by Caroline Herschel and receipt of the Nautical Almanac 14th July 1786; a letter 5th October 1806 from Julian- Ortiz-Canelas sending his observations of the occultation of Antares on 20th March 1805 and en eclipse 16th June 1805; a letter 27th August 1788 from Marie-Jeanne-Amélie Le Francais de Lalande thanking Nevil for the welcome he gave him in London and a letter 7th June 1789 from Jean Baptiste Joseph Delambre presents Nevil with 'Elemens des Tables' that he has prepared using Nevil's observations.

Administrative / biographical background
Alexandre Guy Pingré (1711-1796) was a French canon regular, astronomer and naval geographer. Pierre François André Méchain (1744-1804) was a French astronomer and surveyor who, with Charles Messier, was a major contributor to the early study of deep sky objects and comets. Edme-Sébastien Jeaurat (1725-1803) was a French astronomer most notable for publishing a map of the 64 stars of the Pleiades in 1786. He was also a member of the French Academy of Sciences. Julian- Ortiz-Canelas (1767-1825) was Spanish Captain of the Royal and National Navy, Director of the Astronomical Observatory of the Marine of Cadiz and director of the Observatory of Spain. Marie-Jeanne-Amélie Le Francais de Lalande (1768-1832) was a French Astronomer and mathematician, she married another astronomer Michel Le Francais de Lalande (1776-1839). Jean Baptiste Joseph Delambre (1749-1822) was a mathematician and astronomer and became the director of the Paris Observatory. Jean Sylvain Bailly (1736-1793) a French astronomer and mathematician and political leader of the early part of the French Revolution who was ultimately gulliotined. Lars Regnér (1746–1810), Professor of Astronomy at Uppsala University in Sweden.
