Barlow receives a minor wound and criticises papist traitors at home. The second day of battle is hard fought and ends in a retreat to the coast as many ships are damaged.
The battle resumes and Barlow receives a leg wound from a shot. He criticises the traitors at home who support the papists. The fleet is outnumbered by the Dutch ships and after a second day of battle many English ships have been damaged and men lost. A retreat towards the coast is ordered.
