The EXPERIMENT reaches Madagascar and re-provisions at a nearby island. After six months at sea the ship arrives at Mumbai, where some female passengers get bad news about their husbands in the East India Company.
The EXPERIMENT passes the Cape of Good Hope and Madagascar (Barlow/Lubbock know it as "Sint Lorence"). They stop at the island of Anjouan (known as "Johanna") to get water, where the Muslim inhabitants are polite to the English. Some crewmen are sick with scurvy. After six months the ship arrives at Mumbai, where some of the female passengers on board hear that their husbands serving in the East India Company have died.
