The ship reaches Goa and then Karwar. Barlow tells how English sailors have died on arrival there due to the hot, unhealthy climate.

The ship reaches Goa, the chief Portugese colony in East India. They encounter some small Portugese ships which they believe at first to be hostile Malabar men-of-war. They sail on to Karwar, where there is an English factory for the East India Company. Barlow mentions the people and produce there, and describes how numerous sailors have died on arrival because of the unhealthy climate.
