Back in London, Barlow loses money to a pick-pocket. He confesses to breaking promises of betrothal to several women. He ships on a pink called the RONE FACTER, bound for Rouen. On the voyage they encounter a Spanish privateer which sends men on board but finds little to take away.
On his return to London Barlow is pick-pocketed of 40 shillings and pays a thief-catcher to pursue the matter but loses that money too. He confesses to betrothing himself to a neighbour's daughter but not keeping his promise, and to repeating this behaviour afterwards. Barlow ships for his next voyage in a small pink called the RONE FACTER, bound for Rouen with a cargo of mixed goods. They encounter a Spanish privateer, which sends some men on board the RONE FACTER to search for French goods, but take away only some wine and hens. They arrive at Havre de Grace.
