The GOLDEN LION sends men on board the RONE FACTER but allows the ship to proceed. On arrival in England, Barlow leaves the ship and gets a place as second mate in the West Indiaman GUANNABOE, bound for Jamaica, at a monthly salary of 55 shillings. Before sailing Barlow marries a servantmaid, Mary Symans, in the parish church at Deal. Their wedding dinner at the King's Head in Deal is attended by several captains and merchants.
