The KENT visits Fogo and then Tristan da Cunha, where there are many penguins. They hear of the East India Company's embargo on any English ships trading in India or the South Seas without their consent.
The KENT anchors at Fogo in the Cape Verde Islands. On reaching Tristan da Cunha they find no inhabitants, but many penguins and other wild fowls, and seals. Later they encounter an English ship and hear of the frigate PHENIX, sent by the East India Company to intercept any ships trading in India or the South Seas without the Company's consent.
