[The text summarised here was found under a page of text which had been deliberately pasted over it]: Barlow is told that there is a woman from London who needs to see him. He goes ashore and finds that she is a servantmaid from the house where he stayed. She tells him she is pregnant and begs him to marry her. Barlow admits that he took her by surprise and was to some degree familiar with her, but had not intended to keep his promise to her of future affection. He reflects on his conduct and repents of it, believing that it displeased God.
