Uncatalogued: Bundle of papers, photographs and notes re compasses made by Alfred Hine.
The box itself contains two large folders and a small box of slides. The slides, of which there are between 15 and 20 in total, mostly depict compass faces. As for the files, both folder contains around 100 pages from what appears to be a thesis draft. The work is not bound and there are various critiques in red and green ink covering it suggesting an early copy. Only half of the thesis (pages from 112) is included within this box. Second box: Five folders containing an assortment of material. The first contains the first 111 pages of the aforementioned draft thesis, while the second third and fourth contain an assortment of diagrams, tables and other scientific notes relating to the various compass- and electromagnetic-related items in the thesis. 40 photographs of the various compasses. These materials likely make up the appendices and figures used/included within the thesis.
