Regular readers might recall the Caird Library Open Day last year, where the doors were opened and the usual need for a Reader's tickets waived - well, we're doing it again! On Saturday 27 June, between 11am and 4pm drop in for a chance to see some fascinating manuscripts, maps, prints and rare books. These will include a medical book taken by the mutineers from HMS Bounty in 1789, some of Samuel Pepy's letters and a blood thirsty pirate's journal, relating misdeeds in the Mediterranean. Staff will be on hand to answer questions about these and other remarkable documents in the Museum's collections. If you have any seafaring ancestors , they will be able to advise on exploring your own family connections with the sea. There will also be a demonstration of sailors' ropwework as well as the chance for younger visitors to interrogate a pirate about her crimes on the high seas. So come aboard and discover more about your maritime history! More details at rmg.co.uk/libraryopenday
