May's Item of the month has just been posted. Graham takes a look at some of the stories from the soon to launch 1915 Crew List transcription project.
For the last 4 years, online volunteers based in such far flung places as Mexico, New Zealand, Italy, Japan, France and Ireland (as well as the UK) have been busily transcribing all the surviving merchant navy crew lists from 1915. The lists are held jointly by the National Archives and the National Maritime Museum and the project means the lists will shortly be searchable on line.
