Last week Leeds Museums and Galleries got in touch to remind us that their collections include a wonderful clock made in about 1727 by John Harrison, before he got to work on his marine timekeepers.
They've done a couple of blogs about it, which are well worth reading:
More than just a pretty tick-tock clock
Harrison precision pendulum clock X-ray
and have many other interesting stories to tell, including one about 18th century scientific instruments in the museum.
They are now working on proposals to do a new display for the Harrison clock. We hope they get the money.
