She has a carved upper transom and stern rail and her rudder has been drawn inboard. No masts are in evidence. The photographer was in the area in the following periods: 6 to 28 May 1937; 14 October 1937 to 8 January 1938; 14 April to 4 June 1938 and 8 to 12 September 1938. A vertical format negative.

The photographer is looking forward from deck level on the port side of the deck just ahead of the poop showing the main lug sail stowed fore and aft on athwartships booms. The fishing net windlass is aft of the mainmast. The photographer was in the area on four occasions: 6 to 28 May 1937; 14 October 1937 to 8 January 1938; 14 April to 4 June 1938 and 8 to 12 September 1938.

P33938; A starboard broadside view of a Tongkung type junk moored at Singapore. The vessel is ketch rigged and has a timber platform under the bowsprit, a mainmast with a gaff and a mizzen mast with a gaff and a boom. Her loose-footed mainsail and her mizzen sail are stowed against the masts. She is in ballast and has a large perforated rudder. She has two objects suspended in her forestays. This is almost a silhouette of the ship.

P34389; Two sampans being sculled near the Royal Navy aircraft carrier Eagle (1918) at Tsingtao. The nearest boat is seen from fine off the starboard quarter and has a crew of two. The other sampan is seen from fine off the port quarter and also has a crew of two. Both boats have the number 1 in a circle painted on the quarter. An unidentified single funnelled warship with awnings rigged fore and aft is in the far left distance.

The model has a mainmast, a mizzen mast and a quarter mast sited to port. A lug sail is set on each mast as well as a port side studding sail on an outrigger boom abaft the mainmast.

The heavy cruiser Cumberland (1926) is in the background and the photographer was taking passage in her from Singapore to the U.K. at the time.

Her port number T790H is painted on her side amidships next to another partially illegible number and she has an occuli on her bow. P34458; A slightly distant port broadside view of the Ningpo fisher type junk 0171 under sail at Weihaiwei. She is a two masted spritsail rigged vessel with a small rectangular foresail. Her mainsail has a bonnet and is secured by a large number of lines to her stern. She has an occuli at the bow and an oil lamp on her port quarter. Negatives numbers P34454 to P34458 inclusive are of this vessel.

The photographer's ship was in Northern Chinese waters in the periods 3 June to 10 October 1937 and 8 June to 4 September 1938.

The transom is gaily painted. Another Twaqo is on the left. The photographer was at Singapore on four occasions during 1937 and 1938: 9 April to 1 May 1937, 13 January to 26 February 1938, 9 March to 23 March 1938 and 17 September to 30 September 1938.
