Logbook kept by Edward Newell Harrison, clerk in charge, HMS ASSISTANCE, 1850.
The ASSISTANCE was one of four ships composing Captain Horatio T. Austin’s expedition, the other three were RESOLUTE, PIONEER and INTREPID. The log commences in May 1850 and ends on 4 August 1850. Reverse contains lists of provisions taken in on the ship [4 pages]. Several pages of accounts torn out. A large proportion of the logbook paper is blank.
