Studies of the topmasts of HMS 'Repulse'
Inscribed by the artist lower right, 'Repulse' and with other correcting notes, these sketches show the topmasts of the battlecruiser 'Repulse' (1916) as in late 1916 or early 1917, before the main topmast was removed. Wyllie's note 'mast neck not quite long enough' shows his dissatisfaction with his first attempt and he has added a second version to the right marked 'more like this'.
