Sir Samuel Hood's engagement with the French Squadron off Rochefort, Septr 25, 1806. Representing the Monarch with her two Prizes in tow, La Minerve & L' Armide
A coloured print depicting Sir Samuel Hood in Monarch with his two French prizes, L'Armide and La Minerve, after the action of 25 September, 1806, off Rochefort. It appears from the lieutenant's log that Armide was unable to keep up the fight as long as Minerve, perhaps sustaining a greater degree of damage. This suggests that Armide is the frigate on the right of the centre of the picture, while Minerve is on the left. The 'Progress Books' state Armide was repaired in Plymouth between 1806 and 1809, while Minerve sailed from there in 1807.
