Muffin dish

Muffin dish belonging to Nelson's daughter Horatia, later Horatia Nelson Ward (1801-1881). The plain circular base is hollow with a filling spout and screw cap. The item has a domed lid with a ball knop. The base and lid are both engraved with two cherubs holding a ribbon inscribed 'Horatia 29th Octr 1807'. The 29th October was the date given by Lady Hamilton as Horatia's birthday, it was actually the first week of February 1801. The dish was a birthday present from Lady Hamilton to Horatia.

The lid is marked PLT0160.2.
